Artificial Rose Petals

Having chosen the flowers and colours for the brides’ bouquets and arrangements, it's time to turn your attention to buttonholes and corsages – and in particular to how you'll attach them to your clothes.

Traditionally, wedding guests attach silk petals and corsages with pearl headed pins pushed through the fabric from behind the lapel.

As well as normal flower pins, we have sparkling diamante flower pins which add a lovely gleam against dark fabrics.

Bear in mind that boutonnieres should never actually be pushed through the buttonhole itself. The artificial rose petals are always laid flat against the lapel, normally with the stem pointing down for men and up for ladies.

Attaching Your Buttonhole with Flower Pins

If you've never attached a buttonhole, silk flower petals or corsage before, how to do it correctly may be a bit of a puzzle.

Lay the arrangement flat on the left lapel, then push the pin up through fabric from the back. Push it through the stem of the silk rose petals, and then back down through the fabric so the pin is completely hidden.

If you have diamante flower pins and want the sparkly gem to show, follow the same instructions but start from the front.
